阅读理解。
It's 2009. You feel sick, so you go to the doctor. She checks your fever, looks at your throat, and asks
what you've been thinking about lately. When you leave, she gives you some medicine, but also a list of
thinking skills that you are supposed to practice daily.  She says that the way you think is causing some of
 your illness.
Doctors and other scientists who study the human mind and try to explain why people behave in the way
that they do, called psychologists, are starting to believe it. You know that your brain is connected to every
part of your body through your nervous system (神经系统).  Now scientists have proved that how you think
and feel can havean influence on the health of your body.
Stress (压力 ,紧张)  is caused whenever there is a problem or a change in your life. Of course, everybody
has stress more or less; nobody's life is perfect.  In fact, stress is necessary.  Without stress, wa would never
leam anything or grow or change. We would probably be bored'to death. But too much stress can hurt you. It
can weaken your body's protection so that you are more likely to catch diseases. It can evenmake you more
likely to have an accident.
When you feel stress, your brain sends a message to your body to produce achemical called adrenaline (肾上腺素).  Adrenaline speeds up your breathing and your heartbeat.  Today you have a different kind of stress.
Problems like endless homework or troubles with your family are the kind of things you can't fight or run away
from, so you don't use up all that adrenaline.  It just stays bottled up inside you, and that's what can do
 something bad to you.
What can you do about stress? First, you can try to find ways to change things so you aren't under so
much stress. You can set up a plan to finish homework or go to a doctor or a psychologist to try to work
things out with your family or your friends. But sometimes you can't change a stressful situation.  Sometimes
you don't even want to.  A big change might be a good change, but it will still be stressful.
The link (关联) between your body and brain works in two ways.  Your body can help your mind deal
with stress. If you are under stress, you need to take especially good care of your body.  It's important to get
enough sleep and eat nutritious meals. Some people take a vitamin-mineral pill every day. Another thing that
you can do is daily exercise.  If you go walking or do aerobic dancing or work out at the gym, you give your
body a chance to burn up some of that adrenaline. Of course, a person who isn't used to much physical
activity should start slowly. Anyone with a continuing physical problem should check with a doctor before
starting any exercise programs.
1. A psychologist is a person who may help you with your ________.
A. illness and abilities
B. thoughts and behaviour
C. mind and nervous system
D. physical activity and daily exercise
2. Which of the following is true according to the passage?
A. You shouldn't go to the gym if you are under stress.
B. One can do his homework to bum up adrenaline.
C. Diseases and accidents are caused by stress.
D. Everyone needs stress to improve himself.
3. From the last sentence of Paragraph 5 we can infer that ________.
A. it's difficult to change a stressful situation
B. it's not stressful when a good change takes place
C. a big change will cause another stressful situation
D. a stressful situation can't be changed without any effort
4. What is probably the best title for this passage?
A. The Body-Brain Link
B. The Causes of Stress
C. The Advice on Health
D. The Nervous System

[ 英语 ] The area of child psychology is one of the mo

The area of child psychology is one of the most significant and well studied of all the branches of psychology. It aims to help with achieving a greater understanding of the behavior of children through an understanding of their minds. It deals with children who range from the prenatal(出生前的)stage right up to the stage of adolescence.
The psychologist Jean Piaget (1896-1980) has been credited with making a major breakthrough in this area when he put forward his idea that children were not actually less intelligent than adults, rather they just thought in a different way. Preciously the development of children right from birth through to adulthood was an area that was almost completely neglected. In fact very little work was done in this area. However, interest in this field has now developed to the point of being one of the most debated of all the areas of psychology.
Despite popular belief that factors such as genetics or personal characteristics are the only determining factors that influence a youth’s behavior, this is not in fact the case. In reality, development actually includes many more factors than those contained within an individual. Factors such as environment, which can include social relationships and the surrounding culture, also play important roles. Relationships with both peers and adults will no doubt affect how children think and learn, and therefore develop. These relationships can include those that are found not only within families but also in schools and peer groups.
Culturally speaking, this factor will contribute greatly to how children develop their personality concerning the values they end up holding (perhaps for a lifetime) as well as how they view such things as traditions and customs.
Nowadays, psychologists have agreed that a child’s psychology is both unique and highly complex. However, there are debates on many different points in this field and many viewpoints exist.

[ 英语 ] Recently, an almost literal case of lifeboat

Recently, an almost literal case of lifeboat ethics(伦理) occurred. On Aug. 4, Graham and Sheryl Anley, while boating off the coast of South Africa, hit a rock. As the boat threatened to sink the husband got off, but his wife was trapped in the boat. Instead of freeing his wife and getting her to shore, Graham grabbed Rosie, their pet dog. With Rosie safe and sound, Graham returned for Sheryl. All are doing fine.
It's a great story, but it doesn't strike me as especially newsworthy. News is supposed to be about something fairly unique, and recent research suggests that, in the right circumstances, lots of people also would have grabbed their Rosie first.
We have strange relationships with our pets. We lavish our pets with adoration and better health care than billions of people receive. We speak to pets with the same high-pitched voices that we use for babies. As an extreme example of our feelings about pets, the Nazis had strict laws that guaranteed the humane treatment of the pets of Jews being shipped to death camps.
A recent paper by George Regents University demonstrates this human involvement with pets to an astonishing extent. Participants in the study were told a situation in which a bus is out of control, bearing down on a dog and a human. Which do you save? With responses from more than 500 people, the answer was that it depended: What kind of human and what kind of dog?
Everyone would save a brother, grandparent or close friend rather than a strange dog. But when people considered their own dog versus people less connected with them—a distant cousin or a hometown stranger—votes in favor of saving the dog came rolling in. And an astonishing 40% of respondents, including 46% of women, voted to save their dog over a foreign tourist.
What does a finding like this mean? First, that your odds aren't so good if you find yourself in another country with a bus bearing down on you and a cute dog. But it also points to something deeper: our unprecedented(史无前例的) attitude toward animals, which got its start with the birth of humane societies in the 19th century.
We prison people who abuse animals, put ourselves in harm's way in boats between whales and whalers and show sympathy to Bambi and his mother. We can extend empathy to an animal and feel its pain like no other species. But let's not be too proud of ourselves. As this study and too much of our history show, we're pretty selective about how we extend our humaneness to other human beings.
小题1:What is the function of the first paragraph?
A.To create a relaxing mood for readers.
B.To present the theme of this essay straightly.
C.To lead in the main topic of this essay.
D.To raise problems that will be solved later.
小题2:The author mentions Nazi laws in the third paragraph _______________.
A.to show how cruel the Nazis were to the Jews
B.as an example to persuade people not to love pets
C.to illustrate the strange relationship between human and pets
D.as an example to display the humaneness of the Nazis
小题3:Which of the following is true according to the article?
A.The story of the Anleys and their dog was too unique to be newsworthy.
B.Most people surveyed choose to save their own dog rather than a human.
C.It was in the 19th century that human beings started to love their pets.
D.Human beings are more and more concerned with animals nowadays.
小题4:What does the author mainly argue for?
A.Pets are of great significance to us human beings.
B.We should rethink about our attitude towards animals and mankind.
C.It is kind of human beings to extend humaneness to animals.
D.We should be selective when showing attitude toward other human beings.
